About Our Church

Core Beliefs

Our Mission

To be and make fully devoted disciples of Jesus.
At First Baptist Church Wedowee, everything we do centers around this calling. We exist to glorify God and to equip His people to live out their faith in real, everyday ways—at home, at work, and in our community.

Our Vision

To see a gospel movement of disciples making disciples. We long to see lives transformed by the power of the Gospel—families restored, hearts renewed, and believers equipped to share the hope of Jesus wherever they go.

“And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.”
— Mark 12:30–31 (ESV)

Our Core Values

Each of these values reflects a deep commitment to God’s Word and His mission for the Church:
  • Biblical Teaching – We proclaim God’s truth clearly and faithfully.

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.”
    — 2 Timothy 3:16

  • Authentic Community – We live out our faith in relationship with others.

“And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”
    — Acts 2:42

  • Christ-Centered Worship – We gather to glorify Jesus together.

“God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
    — John 4:24

  • Dependent Prayer – We seek God’s will and power through prayer.

“Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.”
    — Colossians 4:2

  • Intentional Discipleship – We help each other grow in Christ.

“Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works.”
    — Hebrews 10:24

  • Faithful Stewardship – We give generously of what God has entrusted to us.

“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace.”
    — 1 Peter 4:10

  • Missional Living – We live sent, both locally and globally.

“As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.”
    — John 20:21

Our Discipleship Pathway

Our church’s spiritual rhythm is built around four pillars:
Worship
We gather weekly to honor and glorify God.
“Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!”
— Psalm 95:6
Grow
We pursue maturity through God’s Word and discipleship.
“Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation.”
— 1 Peter 2:2
Give
We use our resources and gifts to serve God and others.
“Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce.”
— Proverbs 3:9
Go
We live on mission with the Gospel.
“You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
— Acts 1:8
